Summer 2009

Well I don't know that anyone even follows my blog since it doesn't seem that I ever update it, but life has been pretty hectic lately.  Since Cade was born (May 11th, 2009) I haven't seemed to have the time to check my email let alone update my blog.  Delivery went smoothly and Cade is fairly healthy.  He weighed 7 lbs and was 20.5 inches long.  He had a full head of hair but some has less of it now.  He is the sweetest little guy and the perfect addition to our family.  We have dealt with some colic and acid reflux but we have finally got that under control.  He already weighs 12 lbs so we know he is getting plenty to eat.
Emily is the best big sister ever!  She helps feed him, change him, and gives him his pacifier when he is crying.  She is always calling him "baby brother" instead of his name and wants him around her ALL the time!  Everytime I take a picture of him she wants to get right in there and have me take one of both of them together.
This summer has gone by really quickly!  We have spent the majority of it at the lake.  My grandparents have been staying down there and they have been a big help with Emily and Cade!  I didn't realize that having two kids would be so much more work than having one.  It's really tough and my heart goes out to all those mothers who take care of two or more kids all day long!  Anyway, I just wanted to update this and let everyone know how we are doing.  Enjoy the pics!!

The Nursery

We have finally got a good start on Cade's new room.  We decided on 'vintage sports' and this is what we came up with.  We still have a few more things to do but we have been so busy lately that this is as far as we have gotten.

Spring Break has been full of excitement (for Emily anyway)!  We have gone to the park, fed the elephants and camels at the Science Spectrum, gone to the movies, played outside A LOT; and now Mommie is worn plum out!  I have been trying to keep up with her as if I wasn't 31 weeks pregnant.  I feel every bit of the 31 weeks!  Time just won't seem to go by fast enough.  I still have 7 1/2 weeks left until the scheduled C-section on May 11th.  That feels like an eternity!  The baby is doing really well, however, and everyday Emily kisses my belly and says "I sure wish my baby would come out!"  It's just so stinkin' cute to listen to her talk to him!

3D pics of Cade!

Ok so it has taken me a little longer than expected to get these pics of Cade up, but here they are! I can't wait to hold this little guy!  And his big sister is more anxious than I am.  I have a feeling she is going to try to be his little mother 24/7.  Only 11 more weeks to go!!  We have scheduled the c-section for May 11th at 7:30am.

Praise the Lord!

As some of you may know, we had a scare about 2 weeks ago. I went in for a routine ultrasound and found out that the ventricles in Cade's brain were spaced farther than they should've been. The doctor said that if the ventricles continued to space then there might be a development of hydrocephalus. Being that I work with special education kids everyday, I knew what horrible things can result from hydrocephalus. We prayed and prayed, and today we went in for another ultrasound to check his brain again. To our pleasant surprise, the ventricles are within normal range! Not only did they not spaced out anymore, but they actually grew closer together!! Its definatley a miracle from God! Thanks to everyone for their concern and prayers; it really paid off! I also got some good 3D ultrasound pics that I will post ASAP.

Emily's 1st Real Haircut

Emily had her first real haircut this week.  She did so good!  I was really nervous that she wouldn't sit still and would cry a lot, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Wow, it's 2009!!

Our family had a fabulous Christmas and New Year's Eve.  We had 4 different family celebrations and each one was very enjoyable.  Emily got more than any child could ask for and even got some things for her new "big girl" bedroom.  She loves it; especially because she insisted that it be pink with Dora, and thats exactly what she got!  We don't
I can't believe it's finally 2009!  At least it's finally the YEAR I will have this new baby!  This pregnancy is taking forever!  At least I'm finally 20 weeks so I'm at least halfway through.  Emily is so excited.  She is always wanting to buy things for "her baby," and thinks that even though it's a boy he will still enjoy pink things.  We've been telling her that she won't get to see the baby until after her birthday, so now she keeps asking if it's her birthday yet!
